Jomoro MP survives near-fatal accident on Takoradi-Cape Coast highway
The Member of Parliament for the Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, narrowly escaped a deadly accident early Thursday morning, August 29, 2024.
The incident occurred at Komenda Junction on the Takoradi-Cape Coast-Accra Highway as the MP and her team were returning to Accra following her campaign launch in Half Assini over the weekend.
According to eyewitness accounts, around 5:05 am, Madam Affo-Toffey’s Ford Raptor was nearly involved in a severe crash when a heavy truck attempted a dangerous overtaking maneuver.
The truck driver, who appeared to have dozed off, lost control of the vehicle, forcing the MP’s driver to swerve into a nearby bush to avoid a collision.
Madam Dorcas Affo-Toffey and three other passengers in the vehicle were immediately rushed to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Though the vehicle sustained significant damage, all occupants are reported to be in stable condition.
