The Parliament of Ghana has confirmed that no casualties were recorded during the fire incident at the Job 600 building on the morning of Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

The fire, which damaged a storeroom, was swiftly extinguished by personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Following the outbreak, staff and workers were quickly evacuated to designated assembly points as emergency services tackled the blaze.

In a statement issued later that day, Parliament expressed gratitude to the firefighters for their prompt response and assured the public that there were no injuries.

However, it noted that the extent of the damage is still being assessed.

As a precautionary measure, the Clerk to Parliament, in consultation with Speaker Alban Bagbin, has directed all Members of Parliament and staff to vacate the Job 600 premises and return on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

A skeletal staff will remain on-site to handle any urgent matters.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause and full extent of the damage.
