Mahama Promises To Restore Licences of Wrongly Collapsed Banks

John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to restore the licenses of banks that were unfairly revoked during the financial sector clean-up.

At the NDC manifesto launch in Winneba on August 24, 2024, Mahama also promised to overhaul port fees and introduce measures to address the depreciation of the Cedi against the Dollar.

“We will streamline port fees and charges and implement strategies to stabilize the Cedi and improve the macroeconomic environment,” he emphasized.

He stressed the need for a government that supports all businesses, regardless of their origin or ownership, and vowed to review import duties and levies on vehicles and equipment used for industrial and agricultural purposes.

“We need a change—a change that brings responsive and accountable leadership, one that will take decisive action when its appointees stray from the right path.”
