Mahama Promises $10 Billion Infrastructure Boost and Project Completion Plan if Elected
John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has announced an ambitious $10 billion infrastructure investment plan for his first five years in office if he wins the December 7 presidential election.
At the NDC manifesto launch at the University of Education, Winneba, Mahama outlined his commitment to focus on completing ongoing projects rather than starting new ones, a shift from the common practice of abandoning previous administrations’ initiatives.
He referenced Ghana’s history of incomplete projects, including the $3 billion STX housing deal and the Saglemi Housing Project, as examples of the need for change.
Mahama’s plan includes a $10 billion investment over five years to address critical infrastructure needs. He pledged to complete stalled and ongoing projects, conduct a thorough inventory of abandoned initiatives—including hospitals, schools, electrification, water, and road projects—and ensure annual budget allocations to finish these efforts.
His approach is aimed at tackling Ghana’s infrastructure challenges while ensuring continuity and effective project execution.
