FDA intensifies market surveillance, seizes unapproved products
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has ramped up its market surveillance operations, seizing numerous unapproved products circulating in the Ghanaian market.
This crackdown follows the FDA’s sanctions against over 100 manufacturing companies since January for advertising unapproved items.
During a recent operation accompanied by the media, James Aboakye, the team lead for Market Surveillance, emphasized the importance of consumer vigilance.
He urged the public to thoroughly check the details on products, including food, medicine, and personal care items, to ensure they meet FDA standards.
The FDA’s daily surveillance activities involve inspections across various districts, targeting pharmacies, marts, shops, and other facilities selling regulated products.
