Minority questions Bawumia’s ability to deliver on NPP manifesto promises
The Minority in Parliament has expressed doubts about the ability of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, to fulfill the promises outlined in the party’s recently launched manifesto if elected in the December polls.
During the NPP’s manifesto launch on Sunday, August 18, the party committed to creating more jobs, harmonizing import duties at ports, and improving road infrastructure through public-private partnerships.
However, First Deputy Minority Whip, Ahmed Ibrahim, criticized the manifesto, labeling it deceptive and questioning the NPP’s capacity to deliver on these pledges.
Ibrahim specifically cast doubt on Dr. Bawumia’s economic management skills, suggesting that the NPP has failed to address key issues, such as how they plan to tackle the country’s debt challenges.
He also accused the NPP of trying to distance itself from the economic difficulties faced under the current administration.
He warned Ghanaians to scrutinize the NPP’s promises, emphasizing the potential hardships that could arise when debt repayments resume in 2026.
Ibrahim asserted that the NPP’s track record in managing the economy should give voters pause as they head to the polls in 2024.
