Electoral Commission launches nationwide voter exhibition exercise
The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has commenced a nationwide voter exhibition exercise today, August 20, which will run until August 27.
The initiative is designed to help voters confirm their registration details and locate their respective polling stations ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Dr. Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairman of the EC in charge of Corporate Services, outlined the objectives of the exercise during a press conference on August 19.
He emphasized that registered voters could use this period to address any discrepancies in the voter register, such as requesting the inclusion of omitted names, objecting to the inclusion of ineligible voters, and requesting the removal of deceased individuals from the register.
Dr. Asare encouraged the public, especially registered voters, to actively participate in the exercise to ensure the accuracy and credibility of the voter register.
He highlighted that the exhibition provides an opportunity for citizens to object to the registration of minors and non-residents in the electoral areas where they registered.
Additionally, Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare assured the public that police officers would be deployed to maintain order at the various exhibition centers.
He urged the public to engage with the voter exhibition exercise and to report any security concerns to the officers on duty, promising that such issues would be handled appropriately.
