Bawumia vows to strengthen Free SHS and TVET programs in NPP’s 2024 Manifesto

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to protect and enhance the Free Senior High School (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs if elected president.

Addressing the NPP’s manifesto launch in Takoradi on Sunday, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the significance of these educational initiatives in shaping the nation’s development and the future of its youth.

He assured that his administration would remain committed to providing every Ghanaian child with access to quality education, irrespective of their financial circumstances.

He stressed that the Free SHS and TVET programs are integral to the country’s educational framework, and his administration would prioritize their continued investment and improvement to create better opportunities for young people.

Dr. Bawumia outlined several measures designed to bolster these programs, including increased funding, enhanced infrastructure, and the introduction of new curricula tailored to the needs of the modern job market.

Additionally, Dr. Bawumia announced plans to broaden access to TVET programs, ensuring that more students benefit from vocational training and acquire essential skills for various industries.

He emphasized the transformative impact of the Free SHS and TVET programs, noting the significant increase in enrollment and the achievement of gender parity in secondary education.

He also pledged to recruit more teachers at all levels and improve their working conditions.
