Bawumia promises to cap Ministerial appointments at 50
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has committed to limiting his ministerial appointments to 50 if elected as Ghana’s next president.
Speaking at the NPP’s manifesto launch in Takoradi on Sunday, August 18, Dr. Bawumia underscored the importance of efficient governance, asserting that a leaner government would be more effective.
He assured that his administration would cap the number of ministers to no more than 50, emphasizing his intent to streamline government operations for greater efficiency.
Dr. Bawumia also revealed plans to transition from outright purchases to leasing essential goods, such as vehicles and printing equipment, as a cost-saving measure.
This strategy, he noted, would significantly reduce maintenance costs and enable the government to save substantial amounts of money annually.
Additionally, the approach is expected to boost the private sector by encouraging investment in maintenance services and job creation.
