Beposo Chief Nana Poprodo III Slams Government for Neglect, Demands Development

Chief of Beposo, Nana Poprodo III, is enraged about the government’s neglect in bringing development to the Beposo community.

On top of the list of demands by the chief is the construction of a new market centre and community centre and the installation of speed ramps to slow down speeding vehicles.

Addressing journalists during a peaceful demonstration by some residents, Nana Propodo III lamented the absence of pipe-borne water in the town.

According to him, the government generates tax from the 90-year-old market, and it’s prudent that the community benefits from the national cake.

Speaking on the deplorable state of the market, Queen Mother Nana Praba appealed to the Shama district authorities to construct a new market with a shed for the traders.

Nana Praba blamed the city guards for turning a blind eye to their job and allowing market women to sell along the shoulders of the streets, thus shielding customers from buying from traders in the market.

” We the people of Beposo Market have decided not to vote in the upcoming elections. We want him to fix the issues with the Market centre. The cubicles are in a deplorable state Very Recently, the Fish department of the market collapsed last Monday.

The day before the market day. When the rains come, the whole place is in a mess. The elderly are always slipping and falling to the ground. All the market women have resorted to selling outside the cubicles because of these challenges. The city guards do not do their work. They only show up and do nothing at all,”

At 10 am, the protesters converged wearing specially designed red T-shirts and holding placards bearing inscriptions such as: “Beposo, We are ready to fight for our market”, “If persuasion fails, force must be applied”, “Proper development must be done and Shama District Assembly, Fix the Market “!!

The demonstration organised was joined by a cross-section of residents, including the chiefs and elders, the aged and traders.
