Vice President Bawumia Highlights Government’s Efforts to Boost Youth Entrepreneurship Through Digital Innovation

The government is dedicated to transforming Ghana into a digital powerhouse by prioritizing economic growth, transparency, and inclusivity.

This commitment has led to the rollout of various initiatives to improve business operations, particularly for the youth.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said one of such initiatives, the digital address system, has helped the youth operate their businesses remotely, simplifying access to clients online.

” There is so much benefits, in terms of opportunities for job creation because in today’s world, commerce and trade is done on the internet, and if you don’t have an address how do you get people to buy from you, or to deliver to other people.?”

So the sustainability of e-commerce depends on the address system. Today, if you go to any of the advanced economies, and collapse their address system, those economies will collapse,”

Addressing the 4th National Youth Conference at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central region, Dr Bawumia said the government’s goal is to enable the Ghanaian youth to conduct local and global business through enhanced connectivity for economic growth.

Touching on the tax identification number, Dr. Bawumia said the number of taxpayers has improved significantly.

“Of course on one of the areas, for any country to move forward, you must have your citizens registered for taxes so that you can have domestic revenue mobilisation, “

” When we came into office, only 4 percent of adults had tax identification numbers. So immediately after we issued Ghana, we proposed that we change the tax identification number to your Ghana card number, and immediately we did that the proportion of adults with a tax identification numbers in Ghana now has gone up from 4 percent to 85,” Dr. Bawumia said.
