Former President John Mahama has pledged to reconsider the controversial betting tax as part of his campaign for the upcoming elections.

Speaking at the NDC‘s Youth Townhall Meeting in Accra, Mahama emphasized his commitment to addressing issues that directly affect Ghanaians, including his vow to abolish both the Electronic Levy (E-Levy) and the tax on betting winnings if he is elected.

John Mahama criticized the E-Levy for falling short of its revenue targets and for placing undue financial pressure on citizens. His campaign promises are part of a broader strategy to tackle the economic challenges facing the country.

Additionally, Mahama called for a more organized approach to exporting local talent abroad, expressing concern over the current, unstructured manner in which professionals leave Ghana due to economic difficulties.
