Dean of the University of Cape Coast Business School, Prof. John Gatsi, has raised concerns about the disconnect between the government’s positive economic report and the actual hardships faced by Ghanaians.
His comments come on the back of a recent report by the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research, pointing out that the country’s economic indicators do not align with the everyday struggles of the citizens.
The Finance Minister, at a recent town hall meeting, said the country’s economic progress in terms of the numbers is looking good.
Professor Gatsi stressed the need for the government to focus on creating jobs and opportunities rather than just reporting positive statistics.
Professor Gatsi emphasized the need for more inclusive economic policies that will benefit all.
