Mahama advises trainee nurses to prioritize job stability over allowances
Former President John Mahama has advised trainee nurses to focus on securing stable employment rather than relying on allowances, emphasizing the importance of sustainable job opportunities in the healthcare sector.
Addressing trainee nurses on Saturday, the NDC flagbearer acknowledged the financial difficulties they face but emphasized that long-term employment is more beneficial than temporary financial support.
He reassured them that his administration would prioritize job creation within the healthcare sector to ensure stable and rewarding careers for nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Mahama highlighted his government’s previous efforts to replace trainee allowances with student loans, explaining that the goal was to create more employment opportunities.
He criticized the current government for failing to deliver on its promises, noting that many nurses have gone without their allowances for up to 30 months.
In addition, Mahama pledged to resume and complete hospital projects abandoned by the current administration and to finish the Agenda 111 hospitals to create more employment opportunities for healthcare professionals.
He concluded by framing the upcoming election as a crucial choice between Ghana and the NPP.
