Forestry Commission Lauds Asante Gold Chirano for Reforestation Efforts
The Forestry Commission has commended Asante Gold Chirano Limited in the Sefwi Wiawso for its forest reclamation exercise.
The Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, John Allotey, said the Commission is signing a memorandum of understanding with the company to begin a reforestation plan in its catchment areas.
This aligns with the Commission’s mandate to engage companies working in the forest reserves to reduce environmental impact in their operational areas.
The General Manager of Asante Gold filed Chirano, Mr. Stephen Asante Yamoah praised the Commission for their support in the development of the mining industry.
He assured the Commission that the company is taking its Corporate Social Responsibility seriously.
” Just last week we received 12 students we have sponsored to have technical and vocational training, who have graduated. Just a month before, we have sponsored about 54 students within our catchment area for tertiary education,”
” We have provided a lot of amenities within our catchment area, we impact about 20 communities directly. Currently, we employ about 2200 people, and out of this, 55 per cent of them are from the Sewfi Area,”
