The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has called on Ghanaians to actively support and encourage breastfeeding, highlighting its critical health benefits for both mothers and infants.

In a statement marking World Breastfeeding Week 2024, the FDA emphasized the importance of creating a supportive environment to ensure that breastfeeding is widely practiced and empowered.

Breastfeeding provides essential nutrients and antibodies that protect infants from common illnesses and strengthens the bond between mother and child.

The FDA stressed the need for collective efforts to make breastfeeding accessible and beneficial for all families across the country.

The Authority also recognized UNICEF’s partnership in advancing maternal and child health initiatives, expressing commitment to building on past successes and addressing any remaining gaps to create safe and supportive spaces for mothers and children in Ghana.
