Ghanaian community in UK unaffected by protests -High Commissioner to UK
Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK, Papa Owusu Ankomah, has assured that the Ghanaian community in the UK remains mostly unaffected by the recent wave of protests following an anti-immigrant misinformation campaign.
The protests, which erupted after a stabbing attack in Southport, northern England, that left three children dead, have led to around 100 people being charged for violent unrest.
Speaking on Accra-based Joy FM, Mr. Ankomah emphasized that there have been no significant incidents involving Ghanaians, aside from a single report of a Ghanaian being threatened on a bus.
The High Commissioner noted that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safety of the Ghanaian community, including regular communication with community leaders and advising Ghanaians to stay indoors by 7 pm to avoid potential risks.
