Founders’ Day: August 5, 2024, declared a public holiday by President Akufo-Addo

Interior Minister Henry Quartey has announced that Monday, August 5, 2024, has been declared a public holiday by President Akufo-Addo.

Interior Minister Henry Quartey has announced that Monday, August 5, 2024, has been declared a public holiday by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

This decision comes after recognizing that Founders’ Day, a statutory public holiday, falls on Sunday, August 4, 2024. To accommodate this, the President, through an Executive Instrument (E.I.), has designated the following day, Monday, as an additional public holiday.

This move is in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601), and the holiday is to be observed nationwide.

The general public is hereby informed that Sunday, 4th August, 2024 marks Founders’ Day which is a Statutory Public Holiday.

However, in view of the fact that 4th August, 2024 falls on a Sunday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601) declared Monday, 5th August, 2024 as an additional Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.
