Takoradi: Mayor Blames NDC for Market Thefts, Assures Action

The Mayor for Sekondi –Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Honourable Abdul Mumin Issah has responded to the complaints of theft made by traders at the Takoradi mid-shift market.

This follows a recent demonstration by some traders to express their concerns about the high incidence of thievery in the market.

According to them, despite numerous reports to the Municipal authorities, not much has been done to address their frustrations.

Honourable Mumuni interacting with the traders mentioned the leadership is making headway in addressing the traders’ concerns. He revealed that strategies have been put in place to combat the incidents of theft, resulting in the arrest of two suspects, with one escaping.

However, the Mayor for STMA Hon Abdul Mumin Issah blamed the aspiring NDC Member of Parliament for Takoradi, Lawyer Frederick Faustinus Faidoo intervened for bailing out a suspect, who is suspected to be at the centre of the thievery, and suggested that the NDC is attempting to undermine the NPP’s efforts in the region.

The MP for Takoradi, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah has added his voice to the growing concerns over the recent market thefts.

He has called on the authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice and face the full force of the law.

The MP emphasized the need for swift action to be taken against the culprits, stating that “those responsible for the thefts must be held accountable and jailed.”

“I want to assure you that we’ll jail that person perpetrating that crime so that market women can have their peace. All that the NDC know is to destroy, but I’ve told them that their lies won’t get to me,”

He expressed his commitment to supporting the market women and traders, who have been affected by the thefts, and assured them that he would work tirelessly to ensure that justice is served.
