NDC more open to criticism than NPP -Shamima Muslim
Shamima Muslim, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team, asserts that the NDC is more receptive to criticism compared to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking on Accra-based Channel One TV’s Point of View, Muslim emphasized the NDC’s tolerance of media and public feedback during their time in power and in opposition.
Shamima Muslim stated, “I have experienced directly both the NDC and NPP in opposition and in power, and I have come to the considered opinion that the NDC in power and in opposition is more tolerant to criticisms, especially citizens’ and media criticisms.”
She highlighted that under President Akufo-Addo’s leadership, there have been 79 reported cases of violations against journalists, alongside findings from the Afrobarometer report indicating increasing high-handedness against the media and deteriorating accountability institutions.
She concluded, “all these convince me that the NDC is more tolerant to criticisms and creating a freer society for citizens than the NPP, per my experience.”
