Gender Ministry assesses progress, restructures budget committee

The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP) is responsible for advancing and safeguarding the rights of vulnerable groups, promoting gender equality, and nurturing an inclusive society.

To maximize the impact of its initiatives, the Ministry regularly evaluates its policies, programs, and activities.

In support of this commitment, MoGCSP management gathered to assess the Ministry’s performance at the mid-year point and plan for the effective execution of upcoming programs. The meeting reviewed the progress made so far and outlined strategies for the remainder of the year to ensure the Ministry’s goals are met.

Additionally, a Budget Committee meeting was convened to assess the performance of the Ministry’s approved 2024 budget and address related financial matters.

The meeting also aimed to reconstitute and inaugurate the Ministry’s Budget Committee, as required by the Public Financial Management Regulations, 2019, which provide comprehensive guidelines for forming and operating budget committees in public sector entities.

Committees are empowered to manage financial resources responsibly and transparently by adhering to these regulations. Their oversight is essential for the successful implementation of the Ministry’s initiatives.

Representing the Chief Director, Dr. Afisah Zakariah, the Director of PPMED, Mrs. Florence Ayisi Quartey, emphasized the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to protecting vulnerable groups and advancing gender equality.

She highlighted the critical role of mid-year reviews and budget meetings in evaluating progress and refining strategies to achieve the Ministry’s goals.
