National Food Suppliers association plans protest over unpaid debts
The National Food Suppliers Association has announced its intention to picket at the Ministry of Education premises over seven months of unpaid debt.
The Association claims the government has failed to settle arrears owed to food suppliers for the past seven months.
This decision to protest arises from what the Association describes as the government’s deliberate attempt to hinder the operational activities of the National Food Buffer Stock Company, to the detriment of the suppliers.
In an interview, the Spokesperson for the National Food Suppliers Association, Kwaku Amedume, called on the government to pay the owed amounts in full or face their wrath.
He highlighted issues with unexplained deductions from their payments, mentioning personal deductions of almost three thousand cedis and additional deductions by Buffer Stock.
The Association has written several letters seeking resolution, but no action has been taken. They plan to hold a press conference on Monday to address the issue further.
The Association emphasizes that they are serious about picketing, as they believe the government is intent on withholding their funds.
