The Minority caucus in Parliament has extended an invitation to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to participate in the 2024 mid-year budget review debate.
This invitation is due to his role as the Chairman of the Economic Management Team.
A statement signed by Deputy Minority Whip Ibrahim Ahmed highlighted that parliamentary rules allow sitting Vice Presidents to engage in debates on the House floor.
This invitation follows the Minority’s call for Dr. Bawumia to debate its spokesperson on the economy, rather than its flagbearer, John Mahama.
The statement issued on Wednesday stated, “The debate begins on Thursday 25th July, 2024 in the parliamentary chamber at 10 O’clock in the forenoon. The Minority is extending this public invitation to the Vice President given his role as Chairman of the Economic Management Team of the government.”
