Akufo-Addo Vows Suame Interchange Phase One Completion by Year’s End 2024
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured that the contractors working on the Suame interchange project will complete the first phase by the end of 2024.
He also confirmed that work has begun on the main interchange project, emphasizing his government’s commitment to the timely completion of the entire project, following persistent complaints by motorists on the stretch.
In his address, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the government’s focus on dualising roads in densely populated areas along major corridors.
He stated that these strategic projects, including the dualisation of the Ofankor-Nsawam and Adenta roads, are aimed at decongesting vital regions and solving real-life challenges.
The President pointed out that the government is committed to replicating successful initiatives along other corridors, such as the Suame Roundabout to Tafo-Pankrono.
He reported steady progress on the Suame Interchange project, noting that the overpass on the Offinso road, Anomangye-Magazine road, Abusuakurowa, and 15 kilometres of the road around the Suame roundabout are approximately 40% complete. He assured that these overpasses are scheduled for completion before the end of the year.
President Akufo-Addo made these remarks during the sod-cutting ceremony for the commencement of the 20-kilometre dualisation of the Anhwiankwanta-Ahenema Kokoben road.
He explained that the dualisation project is part of broader measures to improve the road network conditions in the Ashanti Region, aimed at reducing travel times, lowering vehicle operating costs, and enhancing safety.
He directed contractors working on the project to implement safety measures to minimize the stress on motorists.
