The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has officially communicated its decision to terminate the sale of its four hotels to Organised Labour.

This announcement comes in response to Organised Labour’s decision to embark on a nationwide strike set for Monday, July 15. SSNIT had been negotiating to sell 60 percent of its shares in four hotels to Rock City Hotel, owned by Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong.

Organised Labour had threatened to proceed with the strike until the Social Security and National Insurance Trust communicated its decision. In a letter dated Sunday, July 14, and signed by the chairperson of the board of Trustees, Elizabeth Akua Ohene, SSNIT confirmed the termination of the divestment process.

The letter also assured pensioners of SSNIT’s commitment to managing the Trust’s affairs prudently for the sustainability of the Pension Scheme.
