Residents Cry Foul Over Military Land Grabbing
Chiefs and people of Whindo, Apowa, Kejabil and its adjoining communities are complaining about the unlawful acquisition of farmlands by military personnel.
According to the residents, their livelihoods are being taken away, resulting in frustration and hardship.
In a statement signed by the Divisional Chief of Kejabil Nana Agamatsia VI, Chief Kwesi Essiem IV, Chief of Whindo and Leader of family heads, Ebusuapanyin Kwame Borsah, mentioned that the illegal activities of uniform military personnel are depriving families and the various stools the rights to exercise ownership over their lands.
They stated that has been difficult for parents and guardians to cater to their children’s education.
The statement added that the residents are living in fear due to the indiscriminate firing of arms, and also farm activities are sometimes destroyed by this military personnel for no apparent reason.
They concluded by calling on the local government, commanding officers of the Second Battalion of Infantry- Apremdo, and the Ministry of Defence to call the personnel to order restrain them from extensive destruction of lands, and crops.
