Following an emergency meeting on Monday, July 15, 2024, the Trades Union Congress (TUC) Secretary-General, Dr. Yaw Baah, announced the cancellation of the indefinite strike of Public Sector Workers, declared on Friday, July 12, 2024.
The strike was originally called to protest the sale of SSNIT’s 60% stake in four hotels.
Dr Baah however, said Organised Labour had given SSNIT one month to address all challenges relating to pensions.
The strike was declared on Friday, July 12, 2024, over the intended sale of SSNIT’s 60 percent shares in some four Hotels to Rock City Hotel owned by Agriculture Minister, Bryan Acheampong.
Despite SSNIT’s cancellation of the sale, the labour groups are proceeding with their strike and are now demanding that the Board of SSNIT be dissolved.
