Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs vows to crack down on unlawful chief declarations

The Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs has announced its commitment to addressing the issue of individuals unlawfully declaring themselves as chiefs.

The House has expressed concerns over divisional chiefs and priests who have been creating new stools and accepting oaths of allegiance from unauthorized chiefs, leading to chaos in the region.

During a visit by the Greater Accra Regional Security Council, Professor Odaifio Welentsi III, the Acting President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, reaffirmed the traditional leaders’ determination to tackle this problem.

He noted that certain individuals have assumed powers they do not possess, with some divisional chiefs and priests even creating new stools and accepting oaths from individuals who falsely claim to be chiefs.

He highlighted that these unauthorized actions have sometimes prevented paramount chiefs from ascending to their thrones.

The Regional House of Chiefs has decided to put an end to these lawless activities and ensure that proper traditional protocols are followed.

Professor Welentsi assured that the Regional House of Chiefs would take decisive steps to eliminate such practices and restore order within the traditional leadership structure in the Greater Accra Region.
