The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has emphasized his numerous developmental projects in northern Ghana, particularly in Chereponi, while questioning former President John Mahama’s track record in the region.

Speaking during a meeting with the chiefs and elders of Chereponi, Bawumia underscored his accomplishments and contrasted them with Mahama’s performance during his presidency.

Bawumia pointed out that despite having served as president, John Mahama failed to initiate any significant projects in Chereponi. He highlighted that Mahama’s tenure did not result in substantial development for the area, questioning what new contributions Mahama could offer if re-elected.

“My main opponent in this election, former president John Dramani Mahama, was president before. I have not been president before. I am vice president, but John Mahama cannot point to one project in Chereponi”, Dr Bawumia remarked.

In contrast, Bawumia emphasized his achievements as vice president, noting the various development initiatives he has already implemented in Chereponi. He expressed confidence in his ability to achieve even more if elected president.

“I can point to many projects as vice president in Chereponi and so if as vice president, I have been able to start many things in Chereponi, as president, I will be able to finish many things in Chereponi”, he stated.

Bawumia’s remarks were aimed at highlighting his commitment to development and his track record of delivering tangible results. He assured the chiefs and elders of Chereponi that, if elected president, he would continue to prioritize the development of the region, building on the foundations he has laid as vice president.
