Bawumia urges Ghanaians to base 2024 election decision on impact of policies
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has encouraged Ghanaians to base their decision in the 2024 elections on the tangible impact the two leading political parties have had on their lives.
During a community engagement at Gbintiri in the Nalerigu/Gambaga constituency, part of his campaign tour on Wednesday, Dr. Bawumia urged citizens to carefully assess the policies and initiatives of the NPP government over the past seven and a half years and compare them with those of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He emphasized that the effectiveness of a government should be measured by the positive impact of its policies and programs on the average citizen.
Dr. Bawumia highlighted key achievements of the NPP government, including the implementation of Free Senior High School (SHS) education, the introduction of mobile money interoperability, and the use of drones for delivering medical supplies to remote areas.
He also mentioned the convenience of renewing health insurance via mobile phones and other initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for Ghanaians.
Dr. Bawumia criticized the NDC, accusing them of lacking vision and being more interested in trivial projects.
He claimed that the NPP’s record of development in the northern regions, including the creation of new regions and the provision of essential services like schools, water, roads, and hospitals, was unmatched.
Looking ahead, Dr. Bawumia stated that the groundwork laid by President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government has set the stage for future growth.
He promised that, under his leadership, the next NPP government would continue to implement policies to boost business and industry, enhance healthcare, improve ICT-based education, and better the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.
On the first day of his constituency campaign tour in the North East Region, Dr. Bawumia visited the Nayiri (Overlord of the Mamprugu State) at Nalerigu, as well as other traditional leaders, including the Gbintiri Naa at Gbintiri, Yunyoo Rana at Yunyoo, and the Bunkpurugu Naaba at Bunkpurugu.
He plans to meet with key stakeholders, youth groups, and participate in community engagements alongside the NPP Parliamentary Candidates of the Nalerigu/Gambaga, Yunyoo, and Bunkpurugu constituencies.
