“Don’t let Dr. Bawumia regret selecting you, be a good servant to him” -Asantehene to Napo
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, to ensure that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, does not regret selecting him as his running mate.
This advice came during a formal presentation of Dr. Opoku Prempeh to the Asantehene by the NPP leadership at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The revered King advised NAPO in front of the NPP leaders, emphasizing the importance of honoring the trust placed in him by his political partner.
“As a son, I have advised him in the room, but let me tell him this again; don’t let Dr. Bawumia regret selecting you to be his running mate. As you go, be a good servant to him. Do what he tells you to do,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stated.
He also addressed rumors of NAPO’s alleged disobedience, urging him to dispel such perceptions and maintain humility.
“Some have said that you are arrogant. It’s a surprise to me because I didn’t see that when I was training him. Why is it that people are now complaining that he has become an arrogant person? I will pardon you and say that it is not the case, but don’t let that also be the description people give you,” the King added.
The Asantehene concluded by expressing his support and prayers for NAPO and assured Dr. Bawumia of his commitment to overseeing their partnership. “We pray that God’s plans for you will materialize and we tell Dr. Bawumia that I have committed you to his hands. If he offends you, let me know, and I will deal with him in private,” he stated.
