Mahama pledges to reduce government size and combat corruption
John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reaffirmed his commitment to significantly reduce the size of the government if elected president.
Addressing journalists in Accra on Sunday, Mahama criticized the current administration, led by President Akufo-Addo, for its inefficiency despite having over 120 ministers and deputy ministers.
Mahama stated his intention to run a lean, highly effective, and efficient government of no more than 60 ministers and deputy ministers, emphasizing his genuine commitment to curbing government expenditure.
He assured that his streamlined administration would be the cleanest in Ghana’s history, setting higher standards for future governments.
He also highlighted his plans to intensify the fight against corruption, promising to hold appointees accountable and take drastic measures against corrupt officials and their accomplices.
Mahama vowed to repossess unlawfully obtained assets from the Ghanaian people, underscoring his dedication to restoring integrity in government.
