NLC summons CLOGSAG leadership to resolve strike issues

The National Labour Commission (NLC) has advised the leadership of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association Ghana (CLOGSAG), to appear before it on Wednesday, July 10.

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association Ghana did not attend a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, July 3, following the commencement of its strike. The association refused to participate, citing issues with the constitution of the committee formed to address members’ concerns.

In an interview with Citi News, Executive Secretary of the Commission, Ofosu Asamoah, stated that the composition of the panel is being reviewed and urged CLOGSAG to honor the next invitation.

He explained that, upon receiving notice from CLOGSAG, the relevant ministries and the Office of the Senior Presidential Advisor, who is leading the ministerial committee on the negotiation, were involved in responding to the concerns.

However, the Civil and Local Government Staff Association Ghana challenged the constitution of the panel.

The commission has reviewed the situation and referenced sections 136 and 178 of the Labour Act in their response.

A new meeting has been rescheduled for July 10, with the expectation that CLOGSAG will call off the strike.
