Heavy rains cause severe flooding in Sekondi-Takoradi, disrupting schools, traffic and businesses

Parts of Sekondi-Takoradi experienced significant flooding after a heavy downpour on Wednesday morning. The rainfall, which began around 3 a.m., has led to major disruptions for road users and businesses across the city.

Floodwaters rendered key roads impassable, resulting in massive traffic congestion and leaving many commuters stranded. Particularly affected was the road from Essikado-Ketan Nkroful to Takoradi, which became difficult for motorists to navigate.

Other areas severely impacted by the flooding include Effiakuma, Kweikuma, Bakano, Sekondi Central Prisons, Gyandu Park, Bakakyir, parts of Anaji-East, and Takoradi, all experiencing severe gridlock.

Numerous shops were forced to close due to the downpour, and many vehicles were parked to avoid water damage to engines.

Residents and commuters are urgently calling on the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for immediate assistance.
