CLOGSAG strike halts business registrations at Registrar General’s Department

Many applicants seeking to register or renew their businesses at the Registrar General’s Department in Accra faced disappointment due to the strike action taken by members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association Ghana (CLOGSAG).

The strike stems from the government’s failure to implement a new salary structure approved by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, despite a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) being reached one and a half years ago. Some frustrated applicants shared their experiences with Channel One News.

One applicant expressed their frustration, noting they had been waiting for over 30 minutes. They recounted visiting the previous day to file an annual registration but encountered an issue, and upon returning, discovered the strike.

The applicant highlighted the red banners on the door post and mentioned that the strike was due to unresolved pension issues involving RSGs and other ministries.

Another applicant lamented the prolonged negotiation process, which has lasted nearly two years without resolution.

They appealed to the government to intervene and resolve the issues to allow businesses to proceed without further delays.
