Takoradi-Anaji Rotary Club: Rotarian Edwin Amanor hands over leadership to Rotarian Rita Dede Amidu

Rotarian Edwin Amanor, outgoing President of the Takoradi-Anaji Rotary Club for 23/24, has handed over leadership to Rotarian Rita Dede Amidu

In a ceremony held at the Raybow International Hotel on Sunday, June 30, 2024, Rotarian Edwin Kofi Amanor, outgoing President of the Takoradi-Anaji Rotary Club for 2023/2024, officially handed over the leadership to Rotarian Rita Dede Amidu.

RP Rita Dede Amidu now becomes the fourth President of the Rotary Club of Takoradi-Anaji for the 2024/2025 rotary year.

Reflecting on his tenure, IPP Edwin Kofi Amanor expressed pride in his team’s accomplishments, highlighting the successful completion of 21 projects, including a significant flagship initiative.

“I feel good about, the service and achievement so far in the 12 months, looking at 21 projects my team and I have been able to do, and to crown it with a flagship project that took a lot of time and a lot of money. I feel so great and so proud as a president.”

He expressed confidence in RP Rita Dede Amidu’s leadership, noting that the club’s guiding principles would support her in her new role.

“As Rotarians, our guiding principles are four. And before you become charted as a Rotarian, you have to make these beliefs[principles] as part of you. And I think her being a Rotarian and her believing in these guiding principles, she would deliver as expected of her. We also there to guide, support and help her as a past presidents, and we have club advisers to also navigate her through the system. So with the collective support from our club members and executives, I think she will succeed”, he said.

Rotarian President Rita Dede Amidu, upon taking office, shared her enthusiasm and commitment to continue serving the community. “Becoming the Rotarian president for 2024/25 brings me so much joy. You know, the call to Rotary always bring me joy because I always look forward to finding the right opportunity to give back to society. So anything about Rotary at any time, I’ll respond with a yes. So I am very happy and extremely happy because I have able men and women on the ground. My predecessor has done a lot and left a very good blueprint, so I’m going to follow suit.”

RP Dede Amidu emphasized her dedication to continuing and completing existing projects while identifying new community needs. She aims to continue her predecessor’s not completed projects, as well as focus on impactful projects. “…and like I said in my speech, I’m going to continue every project that has been left and possibly complete them. Secondly, we’re also going to look out for other things in society that needs to be addressed”, she added.

In her closing remarks, RP Rita Dede Amidu called for collective effort and collaboration from all members to achieve their goals.

“Please, let’s come on board. Let’s share our contributions, our expertise, our diverse ways, and then make sure we are able to meet all the targets that we have set for ourselves in this magical year. It can always be better. So, please, let’s all come on board. Let’s put our hands on deck, and then we’ll be able to achieve all this.”

The event marked a significant moment for the Takoradi-Anaji Rotary Club as it transitions into a new rotary year with renewed enthusiasm and commitment to community service.

With RP Rita Dede Amidu stepping into the role, the Takoradi-Anaji Rotary Club embarks on a new chapter, marking its fourth leadership transition. Following the trailblazing tenures of CP Isaac Osabu Anang (2021/22), PP Angelina Aba-Yalley (2022/23), and IPP Edwin Kofi Amanor (2023/24), the club is set for another year of impactful service and community development.
