EC Chairperson Jean Mensa Praises NDC’s Return to IPAC as Beneficial
Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), has praised the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for rejoining the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), describing their return as beneficial.
The NDC had boycotted IPAC meetings since 2021, when the committee was convened to review the 2020 parliamentary and presidential elections.
Speaking to journalists in Accra, Mensa highlighted the positive impact of the NDC’s involvement since their return.
Mensa noted that the NDC has made significant contributions and offered valuable feedback during IPAC discussions. These suggestions have been incorporated into the EC’s processes, including the recent voter registration exercise.
The NDC had previously declined to participate in IPAC meetings due to perceived biases within the EC. However, in December 2023, the party announced its decision to rejoin the committee.
