NDC legal head challenges Attorney-General to testify in ambulance trial

Attorney-General

Edudzie Tamakloe, the head of legal affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame to take the witness stand in the ongoing ambulance trial.

This challenge follows comments by the Attorney-General urging Ghanaians to dismiss the NDC’s arguments about the case, including an audio conversation between Dame and the third accused person, Richard Jakpa.

During a town hall meeting with Ghanaian residents in the United Kingdom, Mr. Dame stated that the NDC’s allegations had fallen apart during the cross-examination of Jakpa.

In response, Edudzie Tamakloe, in an interview with Citi News, suggested that if the Attorney-General has nothing to hide, he should testify under oath.

Tamakloe questioned the Attorney-General’s concerns about being recorded and dismissed his statements made from abroad. He suggested that if Dame is confident in his position, he should take the witness stand and testify.

Highlighting that Dame has not disputed the meeting between himself, Richard Jakpa, and a respected Justice of the Supreme Court, Tamakloe questioned which narrative should be believed in the absence of any denial under oath from the Attorney-General.
