The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) reports that Ghana’s economy grew by 4.7% in the first quarter of 2024, an increase from the 3.1% recorded in the same period in 2023.

The Services sector remains the largest in the economy, contributing 45.6% of GDP at basic prices.

According to the GSS, key sectors driving this growth include Mining and Quarrying, which grew by 12.9%, Information and Communication at 17.9%, Crops at 4.3%, Construction at 8.2%, and Accommodation and Food Service Activities at 9.4%.

However, several sub-sectors saw declines. Health and Social Work fell by -8.8%, Electricity by -7.5%, Public Administration, Defence, and Social Security by -5.3%, Education by -4.9%, Other Personal Service Activities by -2.9%, and Forestry & Logging by -1.2%.
