In a new book release, Professor Godwin Etse Sikanku, a distinguished Communications and Journalism lecturer, delves into the leadership principles and emerging values embodied by Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The book, titled ‘DR BAWUMIA AND THE MODERN VICE PRESIDENCY IN GHANA‘, highlights how Bawumia’s tenure transcends traditional politics, offering a wealth of inspiration for youth, governance, leadership, and communication.

In an interview with Paul Adom Otchere, Professor Sikanku elaborated on the motivations behind his book. He noted that Dr Bawumia’s life and career offer valuable lessons not just for politicians, but for corporate leaders and anyone in a position of assisting or deputizing.

“Dr. Bawumia’s loyalty to the President, his hard work, and dependability are qualities that corporate leaders, deputies, and assistants can all learn from,” Prof Godwin Sikanku stated.

The book analyzes how Dr Bawumia has redefined the Vice Presidency in Ghana, evolving the office from a largely ceremonial role into a dynamic force for change. “This is an office that can be the single most transformative executive framework for the transformation of the country in terms of it being an instrument for social justice, for social progress and social cohesion. And if you look at all these three indicators, this is a Vice President who has really fulfilled all these three indicators on what a Modern Afrocentric Vice President should be”, he noted.

Prof Sikanku’s book provides a comprehensive look at Dr Bawumia’s journey, exploring his background and the unique attributes he brings to his office. Highlighting Bawumia’s empathy, humility, hard work, and excellence, the book paints a picture of a leader dedicated to progress and innovation.
