The Police in Dambai have arrested the owner of a boat involved in an accident on the River Oti on Wednesday, which resulted in three fatalities.
Seven others were rescued after the boat capsized during windy conditions.
Emmanuel Atali, Assembly Member for the Dambai Lakeside Electoral Area, informed Citi News that the boat owner has been detained as investigations continue.
He explained that the boat operator, who was driving when the incident occurred, has been arrested and is required to provide a statement.
The search party continues to patrol the river to retrieve the bodies of the deceased. Meanwhile, those rescued from the accident are recovering and are reported to be in good condition.
