Stonebwoy sues aspiring MP Baba Sadiq over ‘defamatory’ tweets
Afro-dancehall star Livingstone Etse Satekla, known professionally as Stonebwoy, has taken aspiring Member of Parliament and entertainment critic Sadiq Abdulai Abu, also known as Baba Sadiq, to court over defamatory comments made on Baba Sadiq’s X page (formerly Twitter).
In a writ filed at the High Court of Justice on May 31, 2024, Stonebwoy, the reigning Ghanaian Artist of the Year, is seeking an order for Baba Sadiq to delete the offending tweets and issue an unqualified apology.
Furthermore, Stonebwoy is asking for GHS 3 million in damages, asserting that Sadiq’s tweets were malicious and intended to defame him, causing significant harm to his reputation.
The lawsuit follows widespread social media concern regarding Stonebwoy’s initial silence on Sadiq’s comments, which accused him of being a violent female abuser. These allegations went viral, sparking heated debates among fans and the general public, particularly given Stonebwoy’s well-known advocacy for women’s rights and his numerous philanthropic efforts supporting women.
