New framework by Cybersecurity Authority to monitor and safeguard students against cyber threats

Amidst the rising prevalence of cyberbullying and online threats, Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, Director General of the Cybersecurity Authority, announced the development of a framework to address students’ online behavior and enhance their protection from cyber threats.

Speaking at a Cybersecurity awareness seminar at Takoradi Technical University, Dr. Antwi-Boasiako, Director General of the Cybersecurity Authority emphasized the need for such measures, citing recent incidents.

He outlined that the framework, leveraging Cybersecurity and Data Protection Laws, would encompass awareness campaigns and educational initiatives.

Encouraging responsible online conduct, he underscored the importance of maintaining a positive online reputation, as digital footprints can impact various aspects of life, including education and career prospects.

Representing the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Boakye urged students, especially those in technology fields, to familiarize themselves with Cybersecurity Act implications for their future careers.

Warning against misconduct, TTU has stringent policies regarding cybercrimes and social media offenses. Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Bruce Amartey Jnr., highlighted the event’s goal of promoting responsible technology use and creating a safer online environment.

In a presentation, ACP Dr. Francis Tsidi outlined the features of cybercrimes and advised participants to remain vigilant and report instances of harassment.

Takoradi Technical University’s Office of Students Affairs committed to organizing regular cybersecurity seminars to address evolving cyber threats faced by students.
