Mahama says his 24-hour economy initiative will solve Ghana’s financial and economic issues.
John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has asserted that his proposed 24-hour economy initiative is the solution to Ghana’s financial and economic challenges.
During a special live broadcast themed ‘Mahama Conversations,’ the former president emphasized that this initiative is key to addressing Ghana’s current and future challenges.
Mahama explained that the 24-hour economy will create an enabling and conducive environment for businesses, companies, and government agencies, leading to job creation and increased employment.
He outlined the benefits of this initiative, stating that it will improve the standard of living for many Ghanaians.
The initiative will introduce a three-shift system, allowing operations to run 24/7.
In addition to the traditional 8-hour shift, two additional shifts will be introduced, potentially doubling or tripling job opportunities in both public and private sectors.
Mahama mentioned that this strategy aims to optimize the economy by providing efficient service delivery, generating decent and well-paying jobs, and offering around-the-clock services.
Key sectors to benefit include ports and harbors, customs, DVLA, agro-processing factories, manufacturing industries, and construction companies, among others.
