John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), took his campaign to the Canoe Wharf at the Tema Fishing Harbour on Saturday, engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders in the fishing industry.
During his visit, Mahama interacted with traders, fishmongers, fishermen, fish processors, and equipment owners, assuring them of his commitment to rejuvenate the sector.
He promised that his administration would ensure the timely delivery of essential supplies like premix fuel and outboard motors directly to the landing beach committees and chief fishermen.
In a move to support local practices, Mahama pledged to exempt artisanal fishing from the closed-season policy, aiming to enhance the livelihood of small-scale fishermen.
Additionally, Mahama highlighted the urgent need to revive Ghana’s economy, curb inflation, and work collaboratively to build a prosperous nation. He emphasized that immediate steps would be taken to address these economic challenges under his leadership.
