The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has provided shelter for individuals whose homes along the Accra-Winneba Highway were flooded.

Over 150 houses in Gomoa Mampong were affected after sections of the highway caved in due to the diversion of the Ayensu River by a contractor working on the Kasoa-Cape Coast Highway.

In an interview, Robert Hackman, the Gomoa East NADMO coordinator, mentioned that NADMO is working with relevant agencies to prevent further issues.

He stated that they evacuated people from their homes and provided shelter at the nearest Pentecost Church.

He also noted that relief items were being sent by his director general and regional minister. Hackman acknowledged that while the contractor had met with them before starting the work, the incident was unfortunate.

Hackman emphasized the need for future collaboration with the contractor for technical advice to ensure smoother operations.
