Mahama criticizes the EC for barring party agents from observing the vote transfer exercise

John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticized the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to bar political party agents from observing the ongoing vote transfer exercise.

In a Facebook post, Mahama claimed that this decision suggests collusion between the EC and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to rig the upcoming December 7 general elections.

He stated that the EC’s decision to exclude party agents from observing the vote transfer exercise indicates an intent to assist the NPP in manipulating the 2024 election results.

The EC issued a memo to its district officers on June 2, directing that party agents be excluded due to violent clashes at some transfer centers.

Mahama argued that this move disregards a decision made at an IPAC meeting to allow party agents to be present to observe the vote transfer exercise and accused the NPP of seeking to manipulate the election outcome due to their fear of losing.

Mahama further alleged that the NPP is transferring voters to key constituencies in the Ashanti and Eastern Regions, as well as selected areas in Greater Accra, to counteract NDC gains.

He claimed the NDC has evidence of these planned transfers intended to influence both parliamentary and presidential election results.
