Actor Lil Win granted bail after arrest for fatal accident

Actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has been granted bail of GH¢50,000 with two sureties by the Asokore Mampong District Court following his arrest on Monday, June 3.

Lil Win was apprehended by officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Manhyia Divisional Command shortly after being discharged from the hospital.

His arrest is linked to a recent accident involving his vehicle, which resulted in the death of a three-year-old boy.

The family of the deceased child had been calling for justice, prompting the police to act. However, authorities cited Lil Win’s health condition as the reason for the delay in his arrest. He has been charged with dangerous driving and negligently causing harm.

The prosecution informed the court that the investigation is ongoing and emphasized that the accused must be available whenever needed. They also noted that the delay in bringing the case to court was due to Lil Win’s health issues.

Margaret Adjei-Twum, Lil Win’s counsel, argued that her client, who sustained injuries including internal bleeding, should be granted bail to receive proper treatment. She assured the court that Lil Win, being a well-known public figure, would not abscond during the trial.

Despite Lil Win’s incomplete recovery, the police proceeded to bring him to court. There was a significant police presence at the Asokore Mampong District Court. The case has been adjourned to June 27, 2024.
