Ga Mantse condemns the lack of rural amenities and questions priorities of the political elite
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, has voiced his anger over the absence of basic amenities in rural areas while politicians cruise in luxurious V8 vehicles.
Speaking in an interview, Fred Duhoe, the King said he can’t understand why it’s easier to purchase expensive vehicles than to provide dual desks for students in classrooms.
“It beats my mind how someone who says they love this country so much could stash so much money in their room,” he stated.
“Corruption is everywhere. I believe that the government must find a way to stamp its authority on corruption.”
Through the Ga Mantse Foundation, his office has donated thousands of starter packs to school children to enhance education in Accra.
He emphasized that, although he could have spent the money on personal luxuries like buying a V8 or other indulgences, his priority is the welfare of his people.
Reacting to the former Minister of Sanitation’s cash-at-home scandal, the traditional ruler expressed his disappointment at the persistent corruption across successive governments.
He called for a concerted effort to address this issue.
