Ghana’s amputee national team, the Black Challenge, emerged victorious in the Amputee Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON), defeating Morocco 2-1 in a thrilling final held in Cairo, Egypt.
The match began with Ghana conceding an early goal, but Mohammed Mubarak leveled the score with a penalty. The game featured intense, back-and-forth action, with Ghana’s goalkeeper delivering crucial saves to keep the match tied.
With regulation time ending goalless, the contest moved into extra time. Mubarak struck again, giving Ghana the lead for the first time in the match. The Black Challenge maintained their advantage, securing the championship at the end of extra time.
This victory in Cairo marks Ghana’s successful defense of their AfCON title, having previously won the last edition in Tanzania. Additionally, this win guarantees Ghana a spot in the 2026 World Amputee Football World Cup in Panama.
Over the past three years, the Black Challenge has secured three major trophies: two AfCON titles and the Africa Paralympic Football trophy in Ghana.
